Due to the evolving conditions of COVID-19 in Dallas County, St. Philip’s School and Community Center will be changing how we operate effective Monday, March 23. At this time, all events, activities and non-essential programming has been suspended. Our Executive Leadership Team is assessing this crisis and our adjustments daily, along with the rest of the country. We will manage week be week assessments of all we are doing and its impact on students, external programming, and our surrounding neighborhood.

St. Philip’s School and Community Center will be closed through April 3, 2020. We will communicate with you in the event school needs to be closed beyond the April 3rd date.
Currently, there has been no determination and the St. Philip’s School and Community Center Board of Trustees is evaluating this situation.
All academic excursions are canceled. This includes 3rd Grade- Sky Ranch, 4th Grade-Austin/San Antonio, 5th Grade-Civil Rights Trip and 6th Grade-Grand Canyon. Families will be reimbursed for payments already made for these excursions. We are working on possibly offering these excursions at a later date.
Yes, assignments will be graded and entered into the gradebook for students in grades 1-6. Additionally, early childhood students will receive feedback on their assignments.
Students will not take the CTP-V this school year. The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) is working on a plan for next school year.
- Monday, March 23, will be a remote faculty workday.
- All faculty will post learning materials and assignments by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, at which time students will be expected to begin assignments.
- Distance learning, including synchronous class meetings, will begin on Tuesday, March 24.
- Teachers will communicate to students and parents via Renweb/Parent’s Web and email. Below are the steps to view the assignments and lessons on Renweb/Parent’s Web.
- All assignments will be posted in Renweb/Parent’s Web by 8:30 am each day. Students will have 24 hours to complete daily assignments.
All faculty will have office hours to allow them to work with students that have questions pertaining to an assignment. Additionally, faculty will be available via email from 8:30am-4:00pm
- Be sure your child can log in to all online programs for their grade level (Benchmark Literacy, Aleks, Google classroom, etc.)
- Familiarize yourself with Renweb/Parent’s Web and how to access assignments
- Prayer: The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16). Please continue to pray for everyone that is impacted by COVID-19.
- Volunteer at Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry at St. Philip’s School and Community Center. Please complete the sign up here.
- Work together! Many parents are still working and need help with childcare during the day. Please reach out to other parents in your grade level to see how you can help. It STILL takes a Village!
- Reliable Wifi/Internet access
- I-pad, laptop, or Chromebook, etc. with keyboard, webcam and microphone for synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Pre-K2-Pre-K4 can use cellphones to access classroom content.

- Beginning on Monday, March 23rd, St. Philip’s School and Community Center will provide free WIFI for St. Philip’s families. Parents can access WIFI by parking in the St. Philip’s parking lots.
- If you NEED technology at home, you may check out a Chromebook on Monday, March 23rd from 10am-2pm at the school. Please remember that we have limited resources and may not have enough Chromebooks for all students. Priority will be given to students in 2nd -6th grade. If you need a Chromebook, please complete the Google form by 8pm on Sunday, March 22nd. You will receive a confirmation email if we have a Chromebook available for you.
Each student will have 24 hours to complete his/her required activities. Additional time will be given depending on the rigor of the assignment, if circumstances warrant it or if required per accommodations.
Amounts of work are largely dependent upon the grade level. A student will not be asked to complete unreasonable amounts of work, and activities should not require initial instruction from parents/guardians or other caretakers. A student may need some assistance just as he/she would on typical homework. If work becomes overwhelming and time-consuming, please contact your child’s teacher

How to Access Homework in ParentsWeb

Click on the Homework tab. On this page you can view the homework for each child listed, by selecting their name in the drop-down student menu. The homework is defaulted to view by the week. You can change the week, by selecting a different week in the drop-down menu. You may also choose to sort homework by the date or by the subject from the drop-down menu.
