Volunteer Opportunities
D.E.A.R. Time – Drop Everything and Read takes place every weekday from 7:50am to 8:05am in our Early Childhood classrooms, grades Pre-K2 through Kindergarten. Volunteers are needed to read to an entire class of 2 – 5-year-olds once a week or once a month.
Kidpreneur Expo – The Expo is an initiative highlighting an increased focus on helping young entrepreneurs ages 5 – 15 in the Dallas/Fort Worth community start and succeed in creating small businesses and other entrepreneurial ventures. The mission of the Expo is to help students embrace their passion, funnel their creative energy, and gain profitability around their talents and gifts with entrepreneurship and achieve independent success. Volunteer roles include: seminar support as timekeepers, registration, exhibitor support, and Kid Tank judges.
Library – On-going assistance is needed with shelving, covering and cataloging books, and other duties.
Meals on Wheels Depot –St. Philip’s has served as the only depot in South Dallas for over 25 years. Hot meals are distributed weekly Monday–Friday in collaboration with the Visiting Nurses Association.
Kids Café – This program is held weekly Monday – Friday evenings (6:00 – 8:00 pm). Volunteers are needed to help serve meals to 50–100 kids.
Aunt Bette's Community Pantry – Volunteers are needed to assist with stocking and distributing food in our store.

Thanksgiving Community Feast – Provides free Thanksgiving meals for the community residents and the homeless population in the South Dallas/Fair Park area. Volunteers are needed for food preparation and service, decorating, greeting guests, and assisting with set-up and clean-up.
Fancy Hat Tea Party – Volunteers serve dinner, decorate, perform, and create gift bags at this social event for seniors.
Legal Clinic – St. Philip’s “free” legal aid is offered on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program.
Senior Transportation – St. Philip’s provides neighborhood seniors with transportation to run local errands to the grocery stores, pharmacy, and some doctor’s visits. Volunteers can assist with riding with seniors and assist them with their grocery shopping needs. Senior Transportation is offered weekly.
Girls Night Out Sleepovers – This program is held every 2nd Friday of the month, (7:00 pm – 7:00 am). Volunteers are needed to serve as a mentor, assist as chaperon on field trips, assist with arts and crafts activities or meal/snack preparation and serving.
Mother’s Day Store – A joyful experience for children and moms to enjoy together with several fun activities. Volunteers are invited to support as we honor moms and make lasting memories through movement, creativity, and connection.
Christmas Store – Organize a gift drive to collect donations of new toys, clothing and/or household items for St. Philip’s Annual Christmas Store for families in need. The store will open the week before Christmas from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to serve as personal shoppers for participating families, wrap gifts, set-up, clean-up, serve as greeters, cashiers and be overall Santa’s helpers.
Gwen's Garden – The garden produces fruit and vegetables that are used to supplement food in the on-campus food pantry. Volunteers are needed to weed, plant, harvest, and perform any other duties which lend themselves to the upkeep and general beautification of the garden.
Playground clean-up, Landscaping, Mulching, Window Washing, Power-washing grounds and building exteriors, Repainting of outdoor trims, Repainting classrooms and offices, Storage clean-up (involves lifting), Athletic Field clean-up, Vendor procurement, Inventory management, “Handyperson” work, Technology wiring tracing
Athletic Programs – St. Philip’s athletics program includes football, cheerleading, dance, basketball, baseball, volleyball, lacrosse and track on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Sports are offered only during the appropriate season for that particular sport.
