Middle School Prep - 4th Grade to 5th Grade

Middle School Prep - 4th Grade to 5th Grade

Students are taught to be curious and seek knowledge through the many opportunities they have that transform them into curious, compassionate, creative, and confident individuals.

The Middle School Prep Program at St. Philip’s serves students in 4th and 5th grade, providing a strong academic and social foundation as they transition from elementary into a more independent learning environment. Designed to increase responsibility, curiosity, and confidence, the program encourages students to take ownership of their learning while developing essential skills for future success. Core academic subjects, including Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, are taught in small, departmentalized classes, with enriching courses in Art, Music, Spanish, Technology, P.E., and Library supporting a well-rounded education.

Through long-term Project-Based Learning, students engage in hands-on, inquiry-driven experiences that promote critical thinking and real-world problem-solving. They are encouraged to explore, question, and make meaningful connections between their learning and the world around them. Academic excursions enhance the classroom curriculum with 4th graders' overnight trip to Wolf Run and Tour of Texas, while 5th graders participate in a powerful five-day Civil Rights tour across the South. By the end of the program, students are not only academically prepared, but also confident, compassionate, and equipped to thrive in middle school and beyond.

St. Philip's is accredited by and is a member of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
