Greetings,
and welcome to St. Philip’s School and Community Center
via the web!
While navigating your way through our school, you will get
a glimpse of how St. Philip’s radiates as a beacon for
change and for excellence in this South Dallas Community.
As principal, I am allowed the privilege of having a bird’s
eye view of the myriad of contributing factors that make this
an outstanding place for children and adults. Children enter
our doors without trepidation or fear, but with a sense of
eagerness and security. In this nurturing and professional
learning environment are widely diverse and multi-talented
faculty, staff and administrators, all who embrace our Christ-centered
mission.
Our teachers are encouraged to seek and to utilize the best
possible teaching strategies and skills in order to ensure
success for each child, embracing the belief that every child
can learn. Every day we seize the opportunity to lay more
bricks for our ‘kids under construction’. We believe
that we have invested in the finest building materials to
help build productive and contributing global citizens and
leaders.
Daily, our Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade students are
empowered to think, to thrive and to achieve, starting with
Chapel service, which we consider to be a crucial foundation.
During our weekly ‘Saints of the Week’ recognition,
we celebrate our students’ academic achievements, as
well as the extra efforts of our faculty and staff. That which
our children glean from their daily classroom lessons, fosters
understanding and ignites curiosity.
St. Philip’s parents and extended families provide support
beams in the many ways that they serve and engage in the lives
of the children.
Our many friends and other supporters are the windows through
which we witness more of God’s goodness, and from which
we gain a clear view of human-kindness.
We are truly blessed to work in partnership with so many who
share our goals and vision to be the school that the world
would be incomplete without.
Respectfully Yours,
Gwendolyn F. Satterfield-Barjon
